Partnership advances polyester recycling technology
The innovator specializing in polyester recycling, matter GmbH, Braunschweig/Germany, has announced a strategic partnership with the fashion group Bestseller A/S, Brande/Denmark, through its investment platform, Invest FWD. This collaboration is accompanied by funding from the EFRE/JTF program, which includes €30 million in EU public support, paving the way for the construction of matterr’s first small-scale industrial plant in North Rhine-Westphalia/Germany.
The company’s chemical recycling technology focuses on recovering polyester from challenging waste streams, such as hard-to-recycle textiles and packaging, and converting them into high-purity raw materials equivalent to virgin polyester. This "drop-in ready" solution aims to integrate seamlessly into existing supply chains while contributing to significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
